Security and deployment
One database, yours. On your server or on a machine we run for you.
Fixed Asset Desk is a Windows application with a Microsoft SQL Server database. This page is written to answer a vendor security questionnaire; where a fact is not yet confirmed it says so rather than guessing.
| Question | Installed on your server | Hosted by us |
|---|---|---|
| Where is the data? | In a SQL Server database on your server, inside your network | On a dedicated virtual machine for your organisation; no other customer's data on the machine |
| Who can reach it? | Named users you create, with role permissions; your Windows and network controls apply | Named users over an encrypted remote session; no public web endpoint |
| Backups | Your backup routine; the database is a standard SQL Server database | Nightly, retained 30 days; restore on request |
| Updates | Installer supplied; applied by your IT staff | Applied by us, scheduled with you |
| Audit trail | Every change logged with user, date, field, old and new value, reason; exportable | |
| Data export and exit | Full export in Excel, CSV or SQL at any time, at no charge; you own the data | |
| Multi-tenancy | None. There is no shared database. | |
| Third-party attestation (SOC 2, ISO 27001) | To be stated by the company. This page will carry the current status and the date it was last reviewed; it will not claim an attestation that has not been obtained. | |
| Accessibility | This website is built to WCAG 2.2 AA; an accessibility statement and a VPAT for the application are on the legal page once completed. | |
Why not a browser application
Fixed Asset Desk is installed software. That is a deliberate statement rather than an omission: finance departments that keep their register on their own SQL Server keep control of backups, access and audit in tools their IT staff already run. The hosted option exists for organisations without a server, and it is still one machine and one database per customer.
If your procurement requires a browser-based multi-tenant service, this product is not that, and we would rather say so here than in the second meeting.
Try it on your own register.
The 14-day trial is the full product. Load a spreadsheet of your assets, run a schedule, and compare it with what you filed. No card is needed.
