For manufacturing and utilities
Plant, equipment and construction in progress, from purchase order to disposal.
Manufacturers and utilities have the most complex registers: long-lived plant, units-of-production machinery, projects that capitalise over years, and tax treatments that differ by state. This is the sector the product grew up in.

How is construction in progress handled?
A project accumulates costs by invoice with no depreciation. On completion it capitalises into one asset or many, each with its own in-service date and class. The CIP report shows open projects and accumulated cost.
Can machinery depreciate by usage?
Yes. Units of production by hours, units or miles, from meter readings you enter each period, with a straight-line floor if you want one.
Multi-state plants?
A state book with per-state conformity; the federal-to-state difference report by year for each state return.
Do we get a property-tax listing?
By jurisdiction, with original cost and year of acquisition, in the format most assessors accept.
How does it post to the ERP?
Depreciation and disposal journals in the ERP's import layout, mapped by class and plant. Capital purchases arrive from the A/P export into a review queue.
| CIP | Projects capitalising into one or many assets |
| Usage depreciation | Units of production from meter readings |
| Components | Parent and component assets with separate lives |
