Fixed-asset accounting and depreciation software

Depreciation that ties out, in all four books.

Fixed Asset Desk calculates book, federal, state and AMT depreciation for up to 10,000 assets, records every addition, transfer and disposal, and produces the schedules, roll-forwards and Form 4562 your auditor asks for. Developed and supported by the same team since 1990.

Does it calculate correctly?

Every asset carries four books at once: Book for GAAP, Federal, State and AMT. Each book has its own method, life, convention and first-year elections, so a state that decouples from bonus depreciation is handled as a rule, not as a manual adjustment.

Depreciation is recalculated the moment an asset changes. Run the schedule for any past period and it matches what was filed; run a projection and it shows every future year. Overrides are allowed, logged with the user, the date and the reason, and shown on the audit trail.

How do we move our history without losing it?

Conversion is done by our staff, not by a wizard. We take your export from Sage Fixed Assets, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, Fixed Assets CS or a spreadsheet and load it with the prior accumulated depreciation for every book, so beginning balances are the ones you filed.

  1. You send the export. Any format your current system produces, plus your last filed depreciation schedule.
  2. We map and load it. Asset by asset, all four books, with methods, lives, conventions and prior depreciation intact. Five to seven business days.
  3. You run the last closed year in parallel. We reconcile cost, accumulated depreciation and current-year expense by book and by account to your filed figures.
  4. Differences are resolved before go-live. Each one is documented; you keep the reconciliation for your auditor.
  5. Your account manager stays on. The same person who converted your data answers your calls afterwards.

  • Depreciation expense by period, any book
  • Fixed asset roll-forward by account
  • Tax versus book reconciliation
  • Form 4562 worksheet and state equivalents
