Alternatives to Sage Fixed Assets

Compare on six things: price and unit, books per asset, custom reports, transfers, how history converts, and what reviewers say. Sage sells by quote; we publish prices.

Published 8 September 2026; last checked 20 September 2026. Applies to: Buyers comparing fixed-asset depreciation software, as of September 2026. Authority: Vendors' public pages; Capterra, G2 and Software Advice reviews. Written by Fixed Assets Desk Inc., Sachse, Texas. General description of federal rules; not tax advice for a particular taxpayer.

Compare alternatives to Sage Fixed Assets on six things: what each charges and by what unit, how many books it keeps, how custom reports and transfers work, how history is converted, and what reviewers say. Sage publishes no price and sells by quote; Fixed Asset Desk publishes $1,000 to $5,000 a year by asset records and converts a Sage register with a parallel run.

Compare on six things, with sources, and ignore the rankings.

Lists of alternatives to Sage Fixed Assets mix maintenance systems, inventory trackers and ERP modules with the depreciation systems that do the same job. The comparison worth making is narrower: what each product charges and by what unit, how many books it keeps, how custom reports and transfers are handled, how history is converted, and what third parties say. We publish our side of it here with the sources for theirs, and we do not quote a price for Sage because Sage does not publish one.

The alternatives in the same category.

  • Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets (formerly BNA): built for multi-entity tax departments with many books per asset; sold by quote; reviewers report per-asset pricing and a charge to keep fully depreciated assets.
  • Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS: part of the CS Professional Suite, usually kept by the preparer; sold by quote; reviewers describe difficulty importing bonus and mid-quarter assets.
  • CCH ProSystem fx Fixed Assets (Wolters Kluwer): the fixed-asset module of the ProSystem fx suite; unlimited companies and assets; sold by quote.
  • ERP fixed-asset modules (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics): one book for the ledger, with the tax books elsewhere; the subledger posts to them by journal.
  • Fixed Asset Desk: four books, staff conversion reconciled to the last return, a published price by asset records, and the Sage Fixed Assets field map on this site.

How a Sage register converts.

The books map one to one (Internal to Book, Tax to Federal, State to State, AMT to AMT, ACE kept as a user-defined book), prior accumulated depreciation loads by book as filed, Section 179 and 168(k) amounts load per asset and year, and the Crystal Reports custom reports are rewritten in SQL on request. The switching page lists every field; the conversion article describes the parallel run; the pricing page states the price.

What to record on the asset.

  • If you are leaving Sage: the Custom Export with all fields, the Depreciation Expense and Disposal reports for the last closed year, and the last Form 4562, which is what a conversion starts from.

In Fixed Asset Desk: the field-by-field map from Sage Fixed Assets is on the switching page, and the quote is on the export, once.

The questions asked about this, answered.

What does Sage Fixed Assets cost?

Sage publishes no price on its website; it sells by quote. We do not quote figures from third-party sites.

Is Fixed Asset Desk a direct replacement?

For the depreciation register, yes: the books map one to one, prior depreciation loads as filed, and the parallel run reconciles the last closed year. It is not a maintenance or inventory system.

What about the Crystal Reports custom reports?

They are rewritten in SQL on request; the standard reports usually cover them.

How long does a Sage conversion take?

Five to seven business days from the export to the parallel run for most registers under 5,000 assets.

Try it on your own register.

Fourteen days, the full product, no card. Load your assets, run a schedule, compare it with what you filed.
